60 will forgo the beaches during Spring Break

60 KU students won't be going to Padre, or Ft. Lauderdale this spring break. They will be doing service work dealing with homelessness, health care, or environmental preservation.

University plans expansion to Lied Center

Thanks to a $7.5 million challenge grant from the Lied Foundation, KU is hoping to build a 800 seat auditorium to complement the existing auditorium which seats 2000. The grant is conditional upon receiving $7.5 million in matching funds from other sources by June 30

Documents on "Leo Beuerman" donated to KU Theatre and Film Department

Just another note related to the "Leo Beuerman" film. Russ Mosser has donated all the documents from the film to KU.

If you have not seen this film, it is available at the Lawrence Public Library. It was not until I recently heard about Leo's story that I realized that I had seen him once on the streets of Lawrence when I was eight or ten.

The film only 13 minutes long, was nominated for an Academy Award, and is well worth your time.

Kansas Univeristy to host German "student congress"

If your child is taking German (as mine is), they may be attending this event at KU. The event includes "i> contests in poetry recitation, prose reading, oral language proficiency, spelling, poster making, and cultural tests covering geography."

HawkHelp Live is a service provided by KU to help students using the library. The service allows students to chat on-line with librarians. Emporia and Kansas State also particpate in the program
