Local InterestThe whistle that has blown on the KU campus since 1912 was taken down after being silent starting this semester. Generating the steam to run the whistle costs $3000 per year and with impending budget cuts, the decisions was made to remove it.

Local InterestClearfield United Methodist, located 6 miles south of Eudora, started as the Evangelical Association Church 150 years ago. It has occupied the current building for almost one hundred thirty years.

Local InterestCivil War Re-enacters fired a replica 6-pound field gun at South Park today (Saturday). The demonstration included an explanation of how the gun was fired, and a display of historic photographs, uniforms, spent bullets, and other items.

Local InterestClosed and drained in 2005, the latest step in it's renovation was the creation of fish habitat by volunteers who used PVC pipes and cement.
